Serena joined the coaching staff of Medford Water Polo Club in 2014 and has great dreams and aspirations to promote the growth of water polo in Medford and the surrounding areas. Serena began playing water polo the summer after eighth grade and continued to play water polo for Santa Ynez Valley High School from 2001-2005. Her Freshman year (2001/2002) she received Most Improved Player. She was JV Team Captain and a Scholar Athlete for the 2003/2004 season and Varsity Captain, Scholar Athlete, and recipient of the Coach's Award and Los Padres All-League for the 2004/2005 season. 

 

Starting in 2003, outside of high school season, she trained with the Santa Barbara Water Polo Club. In 2003 and 2004, she was selected to participate on the Santa Barbara Junior Olympics team. In Summer 2005, Serena was selected as the Girls Team Captain for the Santa Ynez Water Polo Club where they then proceeded to attend the Big Island Hawaii Invitational where the girl's team got 1st place and the boy's team got 2nd.

 

Outside of water polo, Serena also participated on the high school swim team in 2002 and 2005. In 2005, she was selected as the Girls Team Captain and trained in the 200 yard and 500 yard swim.

 

After graduating high school, Serena attended Cuesta Community College and played water polo in 2005 and 2006 while remaining a scholar athlete on the Dean's List. In 2006, despite receiving a serious concussion and not being able to play for half the season, Serena was still recognized and awarded with the Western State Conference Honorable Mention. She also participated on the Cuesta College Women's Swim Team in 2006 and 2007 as a long distance swimmer in the 500M, 1000M, and the 1650M (1-mile).

 

Serena graduated from CSUMB in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Kinesiology. She then transferred to Slippery Rock University, PA where she graduated in 2011 with a Master's in Adapted Physical Activity. In 2015, she was accepted to Southern Oregon University as a student for the Master's of Clinical Mental Health and Counseling program and graduated in 2017.
